Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony: The Allen County Council of Veterans will start the annual Memorial Day Parade at 11 a.m. Monday at the corner of State and Parnell. It will end at the War Memorial Coliseum where there will be a ceremony just outside the Coliseum's Memorial Hall.
Waynedale Memorial Day Parade: The Parade will begin at 9 a.m. at the Waynedale United Methodist Church at 2501 Church St. It will follow the Old Trail Road and end at the Prairie Grove Cemetery where there will be a ceremony.
Splash Pads Open: Fort Wayne's free splash pads will be turned on Friday, May 25. For information on where the splash pads are located, visit the Fort Wayne Parks site .
Tri-state Bluegrass Festival: The Northern Indiana Bluegrass Association is having a Bluegrass Festival throughout Memorial Weekend at Noble Country 4-H Fairgrounds in Kendallville. Check out the Festival Flyer for more information.
Fort4Fitness Spring Cycle: Fort4Fitness will be hosting several events on Saturday May 26 including an open family event at Headwaters Park and Lincoln Pavilion at 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Fort4Fitness site has the details.
State parks: All reservable campgrounds and cabins are at capacity at Indiana's state parks, but shelter's are still available for picnickers. Visit camp.IN.gov for more information.
New Trail Open: Chain O'Lakes State Park is opening a new trail for hikers on Memorial Day. It is free and open to the public. It is three-quarters of a mile long and starts and ends at the Stanley Schoolhouse, a one-room school built in 1915, and circles Kreiger Lake.
Road Trips: AAA predicts that almost 90% of Memorial Day travelers will be traveling by car. Check out AAA's tip for making sure your car is ready for summer travel.
No Trash Collection: Fort Wayne trash collection will be pushed back by one day as National Serv-All/Republic Services observes the holiday. Monday collections will be made Tuesday, Tuesday collections will be made Wednesday - and so on.
Allen County Offices: All Allen County Offices will be closed for the Memorial Day Holiday. They will open for business on Tuesday, May 29.
Fort Wayne City Offices Closed: 311 call center, City Utilities, Animal Care and Control administration, Police and Fire Department administrations, Parks and Recreation administrations, community center and youth centers, and The Botanical Conservatory will all be closed on Monday.
Community Harvest Food Bank: The Community Harvest Food Bank, including all Farm Wagon distributions, will be closed on Monday.
Hoosier Lottery Offices Closed: Lottery drawings will still be at their regular time but no other business will be conducted.
Salamonie Lake Beach: The beach at Salamonie Lake will be closed Memorial Day weekend because of low water levels.
Allen County Public Library: All Branches of the ACPL will be closed on Memorial day.
