FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Members of the Sikh temples in the Fort Wayne area held a candlelight vigil Sunday night.
They gathered in front of the courthouse to honor those who were hurt and killed in the shooting at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin last weekend.
People at the vigil also said they hope this event will bring awareness to the Fort Wayne community that there are Sikhs who live in this area.
"We're part of this community and a part of the political process," said Parvinder Nanua. "We want to make sure that we play our part and also make awareness among all our other friends that they may not know enough about Sikhism."
Sikhs at the vigil also said they hope events like this will allow people to have more respect for their religious views.
