FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The first ever pride march took place Saturday in downtown Fort Wayne. It was part of the 15th annual Pride Fest at Headwaters Park.

The director of Fort Wayne Pride said the march is a new way to recognize the gay and lesbian community in Fort Wayne.

"I think it's great. It is a great way for us to increase our visibility in the community and get ourselves out there. Just kind of give a face to our community," Nikki Fultz said.

Fultz said a lot of people wanted to add a parade to Pride Fest and the march was a first step. A parade could happen as early as next year. Fultz said they'll made a decision once they see the attendance numbers for this year's march.
