JIMMERSON LAKE, Ind. (WANE) - Indiana Conservation Officers investigated a snowmobile accident on Jimmerson Lake Tuesday evening.

According to a DNR report, around 6:30 p.m., Matthew Wagoner, 46, Fort Wayne, was operating his snowmobile near the lake when he went onto the lake looking for a safe area to ride.

Wagoner was traveling along the north side of the lake when he drove into open water, according to the report.

Fellow riders were able to rescue Wagoner using a rope. Wagoner was able to break through thinner ice, allowing him to stand as he was pulled to safety by fellow riders.

Emergency personnel then pulled Wagoner to the shore where he was then transported to Parkview Hospital.

Wagoner was treated and released for mild hypothermia.
