PERU, Ind. (WANE) - A fire at a home in Miami County took the lives of two people late Saturday night.

An early investigation by the Indiana State Fire Marshal indicated that the fire may have started near an electrical source in the front room of the home located in the Estates at Eagles Point.

Firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after 11:29 p.m. after a call to 911 reporting a house fire with people trapped inside.  Crews located a man and woman who were suffering from fire and smoke related injuries.

Michael Lamb, 56, and Shannon Scheibellhut, 40, were transported to Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru.  The Miami County Coroner pronounced Scheibellhut dead at the hospital.

Lamb was eventually transferred to the burn unit at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne but he did not survive his injuries.
