FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K Walk was held in Headwaters Park on Saturday morning.
Almost 5,000 participants showed up for the event. The walk raised nearly $254,000.
The walk was held to raise awareness and also raise money to find cures and support programs for all people with breast cancer.
More than 226,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer this year, and nearly 40,000 will die from the disease. Many of the people who participated in the walk were celebrating survivorship of the cancer.
