FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A new walk for a cause came to Fort Wayne Sunday. The Free to Breathe walk for lung cancer was at Headwaters Park.
This was the first year for this event in Fort Wayne.
"When you do something for the first time, you never know what going to transpire, how many people are going to show up and get involved. We're very encouraged at how many people in Fort Wayne did come out and sponsor the event and to donate towards lung cancer research," Anita DeSelm, the Fort Wayne chair for the Free to Breathe walk, said.
One of the main messages of the walk was that lung cancer can strike anyone, even non-smokers.
The walk raised more than $15,000. Organizers hope to make this an annual event.
