LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - Indiana Conservation officers are investigating a drowning that occurred on June 27, 2009 at approximately 5:36 pm at Cass Lake, which is located in Northwest LaGrange County, northwest of Shipshewana, Indiana.
Kennedy G. Stansbury, 3, of Wakarusa, Indiana, was swimming in the lake with friends and relatives. Kennedy was last seen near the water, when it was discovered that she was missing. She was later located in approximately 4 feet of water at the end of the pier. CPR was performed and she was transported by Parkview EMS to Parkview LaGrange, where she was pronounced dead at 6:31 p.m.
An autopsy Sunday found the cause and manner of death was asphyxiation due to accidental drowning.
