KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - A Pierceton woman is in critical condition after crossing the center line on State Road 15 and hitting a tree on the  westside of the road on Saturday.

Saturday evening, the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department found 45-year-old Becky J. Kern, of Pierceton, trapped in her vehicle after he had hit a tree on State Road 15.

Kern was removed from her vehicle and airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne in critical condition.

Police say Kern was northbound on State Road 15 and for some unknown reason, crossed the centerline and drove off the westside of the roadway.  Kern's vehicle continued on until hitting a tree just north of Southwood Drive.

Police added that the Dispatch Center was on a 911 call who was calling in Kern's vehicle as a possible impaired driver just prior to the crash.

Kern is not believed to have been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The accident remains under investigation pending a legal blood draw for alcohol and drugs.

Kern is still listed in very critical condition as of Monday morning from head and internal injuries.
