FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Southwest Allen County Schools just released the results of a recent study on drug use by students in the district.  Among the findings: alcohol is the most used drug.

The survey shows 60% of students have used it at least once and 30% reported using it in the last month.

One of the areas of concern is that there was a slight increase in the number of middle schoolers using drugs and alcohol. "I think the other concern is we're having far too many of our high school students reporting that they've ridden in a car with somebody who's been under the influence and that's a danger that we need to address," district social worker Anita Gross told NewsChannel 15.

School leaders say they've been conducting these surveys for about ten years and are encouraged by the fact that the numbers keep going down.
