Monroeville company expands, adds jobs

MONROEVILLE, Ind. (WANE)  American Mitsuba Corporation is making an $8.3 million investment in Allen County by expanding its North American Logistics Center ( NALC) in Monroeville. It will add more than two dozen new jobs.

The company has proposed a 74,300 square foot addition to the Monroeville location, which focuses on manufacturing, product testing, and distribution of automotive parts.

“The new warehouse, equipment, and associates (employees) will allow us to better meet the demand of our current and new customers,” stated David Stevens, Senior Vice President of American Mitsuba.

Mishel Ashtary, AMC Vice President and Monroeville Plant Manager stated, “The Town of Monroeville has always been supportive of our efforts in the community and has worked with us to make the operations here as cost competitive as possible so that we could continue to invest and win business from competitors around the world.”

“The investments in new equipment, additional warehousing, and 25 core associate positions are exactly what people in the Monroeville area need to see continued growth in our town,” said Don Gerardot, Monroeville town council president. “We are excited to have American Mitsuba investing and growing in our community once again.”

The company is eligible for a ten year property tax abatement. The Monroeville Town Council will consider phasing in both real and personal property taxes associated with the project. American Mitsuba could save approximately $573,800 while still paying over $495,000 in local property tax over ten years. The company would continue to pay taxes currently imposed on prior investments plus the phase-in of taxes on the new investment.
