FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - An FWCS student who's been honored as a Riley Champion helped kick off the district's annual Kids Caring and Sharing fundraiser on Wednesday.
Andrew Armstrong is a freshman at New Tech Academy at Wayne High School. He received a kidney transplant when he was just nine months old.
In November, Riley Hospital for Children named Andrew a Riley Champion which means he'll serve as an ambassador for Riley throughout the year.
Last year Fort Wayne Community Schools raised over $28,000 for the Riley Children's Foundation. Since 2008, FWCS has raised more than $100,000 for Riley and has been a Miracle Corporation twice. To be a Miracle Corporation, the district must raise $1 for every student.
