FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Crews began picking up leaves in Fort Wayne on Monday, Oct. 22.

They will continue leaf pick-up until  the early part of December and as in past years they will visit each neighborhood twice.

Leaf pick-up schedule:

  • Central Fort Wayne:  October 22-26 and November 12-16
  • South Fort Wayne: October 29-November 2 and November 26-30
  • North Fort Wayne: November 5-9 and December 3-7

The shortened week of Thanksgiving, November 19-23, 2012 will be a catch-up week.

You can see a map of the three areas by clicking here.

Residents are asked to abide by the following guidelines:

  • Rake leaves to the park strip area, not into the street, or put them in biodegradable yard waste bags and set the bags at the curb for collection.
  • The planned schedule may change due to inclement weather or if the volume of leaf pick-up in a particular week requires more time in the area. Please visit the City's website during leaf season at www.cityoffortwayne.org/leaves or call the Leaf Hotline at 427-2302 for locations of where crews will be picking up leaves each day.
  • If you use biodegradable bags, call 3-1-1 (or 427-8311), for pick-up within two business days

Burning leaves inside the city limits is illegal and violators will be fined.
