Lawn companies saying 'let it snow'

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Some of the hardest hit businesses during the drought this past summer were lawn care providers. However, companies looked forward to Wednesday's winter blast and the rest of the season to make up for lost revenue.

“It put a crunch on our company," said Larry Adams, the owner and president of Adams Landscape Management. "If you don’t have the revenue coming in, it puts a hurting on you. We had a lot of people off for a couple weeks at a time, and they’re all glad to be back to work with this snow."

Adams Landscape had 25 people out clearing snow all around the city. Adams said their plan of attack was to clear hospitals and businesses first, then neighborhoods. After all their routes had been cleared, they went back through and laid down salt and shoveled sidewalks.

“Hopefully, there’s some snow," said Adam Jackson, who works for Adams Landscape. "I don’t’ want it to snow this much, but as long as it keeps snowing, I stay busy."

Even though it didn’t snow heavily until the last week of December, workers say they weren’t worried.

“If there’s a drought, we have a nice winter," Adams said.

Adams said business also picked up during the Fall with leaf removal.
