Kroger on Bluffton Road celebrates reopening after renovations

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Kroger on Bluffton Road celebrated its grand reopening Thursday morning.

The store underwent $2.1 million worth of renovations under the direction of Project Manager Sandy Essert.

The store, located at 7008 Bluffton Road, features:

  • 39,881 square feet of retail space
  • An updated produce department
  • New U-Scans and new registers
  • A modified entry with new bascart storage
  • Upgraded security
  • A new nature’s market department
  • A renovated pharmacy with walk-up window
  • An updated meat and seafood department
  • An updated deli and bakery department
  • All new self-checkout
  • A new break room for associates
  • New restrooms
  • A new row of frozen cases

During the grand reopening celebration, Kroger presented over $36,000 in community donations to different area organizations. These included a $1,000 donation to Waynedale Elementary School, a $1,000 donation to Indiana Village Elementary School, and a $21,563 donation to Community Harvest Food Bank from the “Share Your Feast” food drive, plus $12,500 in matching funds from Kroger, for a total of $34,063.

Kroger bought four Scott's Food & Pharmacy in the Fort Wayne area in 2007. The remolding of the four Kroger stores spanned from 2008 to 2012.
