Komets ready to open 61st season on Friday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The city of Fort Wayne is recognizing the Komets hockey team on Friday by lighting up the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge with orange, black, and white colors.

Friday is the beginning of the Komet's 61st season in Fort Wayne. It is their first season in the ECHL's Eastern Conference.

The Komets will play the Kalamazoo Wings at 8 p.m. on Friday, October 12 at the Memorial Coliseum.

During the season opener, there will be a parading of the Presidents' Championship Cup one final time around the ice.
