KENDALLVILLE, Ind. (WANE) Gas prices at a station in Kendallville really were too good to be true late Tuesday night.
The Murphy U.S.A station was advertising regular gas for $2.64 a gallon; but according to handwritten signs on the pumps, there was a problem with the digital system.
Here’s what the sign said:
“Our price per gallon is $3.64…our price sign is down and a tech is en route. Sorry for the inconvenience but no refunds will be given. Thank you.”
One woman was already sitting at the pump when employees turned off the sign, and she said she ended up getting gas for a dollar less.
“$2.64! Hey, a buck off. A girl's gotta do what a girls gotta do. For me it worked out, but I was already sitting at the pump when they tried to turn it off; some people didn’t get so luck,” said Jessica Banks.
Banks said her entire dollar off per gallon didn’t come easy, in fact it was a bit of a battle when she called customer service, “I had to ask three different times and get put on hold for over twenty minutes, and then get hung up on and then argue with the people at the station; so, it was quite a battle.”
Banks said the extra time she spent to get gas for a dollar less was worth it.
The actual price per gallon of regular gas was $3.64, but at least one person did get gas for $2.64.
