FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) According to the bakery's Facebook page , Madeleines Bakehouse will be closing.

The bakery, located in the Jefferson Pointe shopping center, made the announcement on Tuesday. The managing member of the store, Amanda Pappas Uhl, said the closure was due to to health issues. The last day of business for the store was Wednesday.

The following is the letter Pappas Uhl posted;

Dearest friends,

Two years ago today, we embarked on a new journey of having our own storefront. The memories have been incredible. We have loved baking for you, enjoying a cup of tea with you, and building relationships with each of you. The support we have received from you – some of you from our first Saturday at the farmer’s market - has meant the world to us.

Recently, as some of you already know, I have been faced with some health issues. I know I need to focus on these issues, however, owning a business has put that on hold. Lately, through several conversations with my husband, my family, and my doctors, we’ve had to make a difficult decision. Wednesday will be our last day with a storefront at Jefferson Pointe.

Is this the end of our baking? We certainly hope not. Our passion remains, and we have no intentions of shutting off the lights and never returning. So in the meantime, please keep in touch. We would love to offer special orders in the future, and we'll be glad to keep you posted.

Cheers to great coffee, fantastic pastries, and lots of good memories.

All my best,
Amanda Pappas Uhl
