FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne is hosting the university's first-ever Dance Marathon on Friday, October 27 to raise money for Stop Child Abuse and Neglect (SCAN).
The event is open to IPFW students and staff and will be held in the Walb Student Union International Ballroom from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The goal of the dance marathon is to raise $5,000 for SCAN.
"One hundred percent of the proceeds from the event will go to SCAN. There will be representatives from SCAN there the entire event, and we plan to present them with a check at approximately 10:45 p.m.," Krissy Creager, associate director of Student Life at IPFW and chair of the Dance Marathon committee, said.
Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, George McClellan, has pledged to shave his head when the $5,000 goal is met.
There will be two stages, dancing, a DJ, food, giveaways for best costume, best team costume, highest individual fundraiser, and highest team fundraiser.
