FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - According to Indiana Department of Transportation spokesperson, Mary Foster, INDOT will investigate the site of Tuesday's large crash where two people were killed.
The wreck took place Tuesday morning at 10:48, at the intersection of US 30 and Doyle Road.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Allen County Coroner's office released the names of the two victims.
Foster said her office always performs investigations after a crash similar to Tuesday.
"The investigation will include things such as the crash report, crash data, what traffic controls are in place, traffic volumes, and speeds along the area," said Foster. "We want to make sure we have all the traffic controls in place that are necessary for that area."
Foster said the intersection of Tuesday's wreck already had traffic control devices in place. A caution sign, warning motorists of the upcoming stoplight, was in place, and "dark plates" are on the stoplight, to make it more noticeable to drivers.
INDOT will investigate what improvements can be made, but Foster said sometimes officials determine that other traffic control devices are not necessary, and may not have helped prevent a crash.
