FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced salt trucks will be out during Friday morning's commute due to the freezing rain forecast.

INDOT urges motorists to drive cautiously and leave for work or school earlier than normal to allow themselves enough time to reach their destination safely. If possible, motorists should postpone their trip until after the morning rush hour as weather conditions are expected to improve later in the day Friday.

INDOT said trucks will be in place as the weather front approaches and will continue to apply salt as freezing rain falls.

Drivers can monitor road conditions and traffic alerts across the state at any time by calling 800-261-7623 or by visiting INDOT's website.
