FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Indiana's First Lady Karen Pence visited Fort Wayne area schools on Friday. Pence said her goal is to encourage teachers and students across Indiana.

Pence visited Canterbury Lower and Middle School along with Canterbury High School in the morning.  Pence said she was very impressed with the Canterbury schools.

"As First Lady, I want to go to as many schools in Indiana as I can," Pence said.

Pence said Canterbury was one of the first schools to ask her to come visit.

The First Lady said she and her husband, Governor Mike Pence, want to give teachers more freedom to teach and parents more freedom to choose.

The First Lady will also be stopping by Anthis Career Center, Weisser Park Elementary School, and the Euell Wilson Center Friday afternoon.
