FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - While you're out doing your holiday shopping, state leaders say you need to pay attention to make sure you're not getting ripped off.

The Better Business Bureau and Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller's office announced these tips for online shoppers in Fort Wayne Tuesday:

1) If you shop online, research the vendors and personal sellers on sites like E-bay.

2) Know what you're getting. Be sure to read the seller's fine print to see if what you're getting is refurbished or used.

3) It's always a good idea to keep a paper trail. You can do that by saving records of online transactions, including the product descriptions and prices.

4) Before you buy anything from a business you're not familiar with, Zoeller says it's a good idea to check with the Better Business Bureau.
