Squirrel caused 4,500 I&M customers to lose power

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Update: As of 6:00 p.m. Friday I&M was no longer reporting any power outages.

Indiana Michigan Power Communications reported a power outage in the Fort Wayne area at around 11 a.m. on Friday.

I&M said a squirrel came into contact with some of the equipment, which interrupted service to about 4,500 people.

Line crews are working on the outage and power is expected to be back up and running by early afternoon on Friday.
