HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WANE) - The body of a soldier killed in Afghanistan will return home to Huntington Wednesday. People are asked to line the streets for "Chad's Last Ride."
Private First Class Chad Clements, 26, died when his convoy was hit by an improvised explosive device in the Arghandab River Valley in Afghanistan.
Clements' body will be taken from the National Guard base in Fort Wayne to Huntington, escorted by State Police and the Patriot Guard Riders.
People who want to take part in "Chad's Last Ride" should gather on Flaxmill Rd., Hitzfield St., and the ball field at Memorial Park across from Chad’s house. He should pass his house around 10:45.
Clements had just begun his first deployment with the U.S. Army on August 5. He was based at Fort Carson, CO. He was assigned to the 4th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.
Clements graduated from Huntington North High School in 2002.
