FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The U.S. Army marched into Fort Wayne on Thursday, October 4 to select Homestead High School's Christopher Podlasjki as a band member for the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Podlasjki is the first Homestead student ever to receive this honor. He received an All-American Bowl band jacket from local soldiers in front of his friends, family, teammates, and classmates at Homestead High School.

He is one of the 125 band members selected out of the millions in the nation who applied to participate in the All-American Bowl.

Students are chosen because of their musical or athletic talents, plus they also embody the loyalty and integrity values of Army Strong Soldiers.

Podlaski will play the trumpet in the All-American Bowl, which will be on January 5, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas.
