FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  The Headwaters Park Outdoor Ice Skating Rink opened its tenth season at noon on Sunday, November 18. Admission that afternoon was free.

Regular prices are $3 for children 13 and under and $5 for adults and children 14 and over. There is a $2 charge to rent skates or patrons can bring their own skates. Every Wednesday, between November 28 and February 27, will be a free skate day for children 13 and under.

“Each year we have about 25,000 skaters and about as many spectators over our three month season. Last year’s skaters totaled just over 26,000, and there have been a cumulative total of over 189,000 since the rink opened in November 2003,” said Geoff Paddock, Executive Director of the Headwaters Park Alliance.

Paddock also said there are new decorations and a new Zamboni for the ice rink.

The indoor concessions stand will again be operated by Mr. G’s at the Rink, offering soup, sandwiches, cold, and hot drinks.

Hours of operation: 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; Noon to 10 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday. There will also be extended holiday hours. The rink is closed on Christmas Day. The season ends Sunday, March 4, 2013.
