FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Business is booming at local gun shops since Obama's reelection.

Freedom Firearms in Fort Wayne is one shop that has seen constant business. Matt Reeb of Freedom Firearms, said since President Obama talked about taking military-style weapons off the streets, gun and ammo sales have went up.

"When they come out and actually say that's their plan, implementation of and process, absolutely that's going to put up a red flag with customers," Reeb said.

He said sales have gone up before November's election. Reeb mentioned the gun shop has seen more first time buyers than ever before because of Obama's stance on taking military weapons off the streets.

According to Bloomberg Businessweek , firearm purchases surged 27 percent in 2009, the year after Obama was first elected president.

"It's a concern, I think that our second amendment is very important to us as Americans," Rob Dornseif said.

Obama signed a bill that allows individuals to carry loaded guns into most into most national parks and Amtrak trains.
