FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  Over the years, Fort Wayne has gotten a reputation for being overweight and unhealthy. In 2011, Prevention magazine listed the Summit City as No. 2 in its list of "The Most Artery-Clogging Cities," citing high obesity and heart disease rates. In 2010, Men's Health magazine gave Fort Wayne a D+ and a ranking of 23 in its list of "America's Fattest Cities."

My Healthy City was established in November of 2012. Its mission is to serve the public through education and collaborative thinking. The last Wednesday of each month, the group will host a speaker or panel discussion to promote healthier living in Fort Wayne. The meetings are open to fitness, wellness, and medical professionals as well as anyone striving to become healthier.

The inaugural meeting was held Wednesday, January 30.

Seats are limited at the events and admission & coffee are free. To learn more, click here.
