FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) An outdoor aquatics center is scheduled to open at the Jorgensen YMCA in southwest Allen County in the summer of 2013.  A ground breaking ceremony took place Tuesday morning at the Y located at 10313 Aboite Center Road.

The new $1.8 million project will feature six 25-foot lap lanes, beach entry with a splash zone play area, toddler pool with a Cascades Discovery Fountain, zip line, snack shop and easy access from both inside and outside the Y facility. Future construction plans will include a playground, picnic area, water slide, and climbing wall.  It will be the only facility of its kind at the various branches of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne.

The aquatic center will be named the Parkview Physicians Group Outdoor Aquatics Center after the organization made a generous donation to help fund the construction of the facility.
