FWPD officer involved in shooting ID'd

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  The Fort Wayne Police Department released the name of the officer Monday that was involved in a shooting that left one man dead over the weekend.

According to the FWPD, Joshua Franciscy was the officer that shot and killed Antron L. Pearson , 37, of Fort Wayne, outside Broadway Joe’s in the 2500 block of Broadway early Saturday morning.  Police were called to the tavern around 1:18 a.m. on a report of shots fired.

Franciscy has been with the police department for four years. 

He was placed on administrative leave in accordance with department policy.

The incident remains under investigation with the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
