FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Fort Wayne firefighters had a bit of Déjà vu after putting out a brush fire behind the Cash America Pawn Store on North Clinton Street.
Around 2 a.m., firefighters received a call from a passing motorist that they saw smoke and fire from behind the store.
Firefighters arrived and quickly had the fire out before it spread to any nearby trees and homes.
Two weeks ago, firefighters put out a brush fire in the same exact spot.
At that fire, fire officials believed it was intentionally set because it was so far from the road.
Behind the store is an empty parcel of land which has mounds of piled dirt. The area near the fire was piled with brush and down trees from that same area.
Fort Wayne City Ordinance does not allow open burning without special permits or under certain exemptions. The current burn ban in Allen County would also not allow the fire.
