FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Fort Wayne Fire Department has put out a large house fire on E. Paulding Road that had flames shooting 10 feet into the air and at least five or six feet out of the home.

The fire department got the call around 2:05 Saturday morning.

When crews responded to the 2100 block of E. Paulding Rd. fire and smoke was coming from the home.

Firefighters on scene said the house was unoccupied.  Neighbors said no one has lived at the home for close to a year.  Fire officials said the house was under renovation.

One firefighter was injured in the blaze, but was checked out at the scene and is okay.

Police did have some of Paulding blocked off while firefighters put out the fire but have since re-opened the road.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
