FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast brought Francine's Friends Mobile Mammography bus to campus for free breast screenings Monday.
Francine's Friends provides free mobile mammography screening and follow-up services to women who might otherwise not have access. The mobile service is for women who are 35 years of age or older and have not had a mammogram in the past 12 months. These women can't have any past or current history of breast cancer.
Tanya Young, community outreach director at Ivy Tech, said Ivy Tech students who have never received a mammogram before were able to get one at this event. The public was also welcome and Francine's Friends did allow walk-in appointments.
Young said more than 10 people took advantage of the free breast screenings.
