FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - In honor of National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week, the Rescue Mission in Fort Wayne will be holding events to help those in need.
One of the programs the Rescue Mission is doing is called "Skip a Lunch, Feed a Bunch."
"On average an individual spends $5 for a meal time, especially at lunch if they're working. What we're doing is encouraging individuals to give up that $5 and give it to the Mission which we will actually then be able to serve three individuals," Sharon Gerig, of the Rescue Mission, said.
People can also donate food and other items for the homeless and hungry in the Fort Wayne area. There is a wish list of needed items on the Rescue Mission's website .
The Rescue Mission will also be holding their annual Thanksgiving meal, free of charge, on Thursday, November 22 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
