Fort Wayne police arrest suspect in April murder

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Fort Wayne police have arrested a man in connection with a murder that took place in April on the city's west side.

Around 6:30 Thursday night, officers arrested Charles V. Lawrence, 35, in the 7000 block of W. Jefferson. He faces charges of murder and possession of a firearm by a violent felon.

Both charges are the result of an investigation into the shooting death of Quinton Lewis, 29, of Fort Wayne. He was found dead April 24 inside an apartment hallway in the 4300 block of Kekionga Drive.

A few hours before Lewis' body was found, officers had responded to that same apartment complex for a domestic dispute complaint.

Lewis' death was the city's 12th homicide of the year.
