FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - It’s that time of year again to paint the city green.

The annual Fort Wayne Get Green Fest took place all day Saturday. The day started off with 1200 runners participating in the 4th Annual 5 Kilt Run, 250 more runners than last year.

After the race, people could enjoy the annual Hoosier Lottery Parade and River Greening where people helped dye the river green. There was also a Lucky Charms eating contest, a Stout Barbell Strongman competition, and live music from local bands until 1 a.m.

"People come out and they just get crazy, have fun with it, try to get festive, and get ready for St. Patrick’s Day," said Rod Salway, the coordinator of the 5 Kilt Run.

All proceeds from the family-friendly event benefited multiple charities across Fort Wayne such as the firefighters' scholarship foundation and Breast Cancer Awareness.
