NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WANE) - The Aliahna Lemmon Benefit Fund continues to grow, thanks to help from community organizations.  On Sunday, the Fort Wayne Derby Girls held a charity bout with a portion of the proceeds going to the fund.

"The Fort Wayne community is coping with the tragic loss of one of our youngest citizens," said Shannon Dispennette, president of the Fort Wayne Derby Girls.  "As the details continue to come to light, we want to provide an opportunity for the general public to support the healing process."

The Derby Girls planned to host a scrimmage on Sunday night and felt it was appropriate to help out the Lemmon family.

"W e're founded on community service," said Dispennette. "Specifically, women's and children's charities.  We've got a lot of families out here that have children and when a tragedy like that happens you kind of hug your children close and want to make a difference."

The other portion of the proceeds was sent to Erin's House.

Erin's House provides support services for children, teens and their families, who have suffered the death of a loved one.  The cost-free programs provided by Erin's House help to reach those families in need of grief support.

Donations to the Aliahna Lemmon Benefit Fund can be made through Salin Bank.
