FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -- The City of Fort Wayne will be temporarily closing both Fairfield Avenue and Berry Street to allow for work on separate roofing projects.

Berry Street will be closed on Thursday, August 30 from 6 a.m. until approximately 2:30 p.m. between Clinton Street and Barr Street.

Fairfield Avenue was initially scheduled to close on Wednesday, August 29 but due to equipment problems, the closure has been pushed back to Tuesday, September 4 through Thursday, September 6. Fairfield Avenue will be closed to all traffic south of Creighton Avenue.

The closures are happening so independent contractors can erect cranes in both locations to lift materials onto the roofs of Fairfield Manor and the Anthony Wayne Building.

A detour will be established on Fairfield using Creighton Avenue, Harrison Street, and Pontiac Street. Officials are encouraging people to avoid Berry Street during its closure, and use Barr Street, Main Street, and Clinton Street instead.

If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact the Traffic Engineering Department at 427-1172.
