FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - With more than 82,000 people attending, the 2012 Fort Wayne Air Show was the largest air show the region has seen in decades.
The show was held at the 122nd Fighter Wing Air National Guard Base over Labor Day weekend.
According to the Indiana Air National Guard, more than 3,500 people attended the open air country concert on Friday night featuring Jason Michael Carroll and Fort Wayne’s own Sugar Shot.
“The Fort Wayne Air Show was a complete success,” Col. David L. Augustine, 122nd Fighter Wing Commander, said. “We couldn’t have done it without the support of the community through sponsorships, in-kind donations, volunteerism and the incredible turnout on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.”
Despite the rain, tens of thousands of people in the crowd were entertained by teams such as the Air National Guard’s John Klatt, Warbirds, The Golden Knights, Otto the Helicopter, Oliver's SkyDancer, and the weekend’s headliner, the F-22 Raptor.
