FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Former WANE-TV General Manager Frank Moore passed away Thursday after a battle with cancer.
Frank was in broadcasting for more than 50 years and was General Manager at WANE from 1988 until retiring in 2003.
Frank was known for his love of traveling and photography. He was also an avid ham radio operator.
It was his ham radio hobby that put him in contact with a person inside Kuwait during the first Gulf War. Frank shared information he received from this ham radio contact with the U.S. State Department. He later traveled to Kuwait after the conclusion of the war and met the contact and the two men became friends.
Mr. Moore received the Sagamore of the Wabash from then Governor Evan Bayh, the highest civilian honor in the state of Indiana for his efforts related to the Gulf War and for his community service.
Frank grew up in Maine and was a graduate of Boston University.
He is survived by his wife Dottie and three children.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, April 27 at Leo United Methodist Church at 13519 Leo Road. A private burial will take place at a later date.
Frank Moore was 74-years-old.
