FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A motor-city native, who’s developed quite a following with his portable hot dog cart, has decided to expand on that success and launch his own restaurant in Fort Wayne.

For the past five months, William Drake has been operating “Detroit’s Finest Coney Island” at the corner of Anthony and Rudisill.

Monday, July 2nd, he plans to move into his new place at 2145 Taylor Street in Fort Wayne.

Drake’s loyal customers already know his coneys are more than a mouthful, and his “Super Coney” is the signature item on the menu.

“The ‘Super Coney’ is the mac daddy of the coneys. You got two meats. You get the authentic natural casing coney wiener, plus the loose ground beef, plus you get the authentic beanless coney sauce, diced onion, mustard and you add shredded cheese, said Drake.”

NewsChannel 15’s Pat Hoffmann is a Detroit native, who had to check out the “Super Coney;” he said it was as good as anything he’s ever had at home.
