DECATUR, Ind. (WANE) - The Adams County Prosecutor's office says charges are forthcoming from April's buggy crash that killed three Amish people.  Police said the driver responsible for the accident told them he was texting before the crash.

Christopher Harvey, the county's prosecutor, said Tuesday charges will be coming "soon."  He added that he would not discuss the case because it was still under review.

According to an accident report, the driver was Chandler Gerber, 21, of Bluffton.

The accident happened around 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday April 17.   It happened on S.R. 124, near County Road 400 West.

There were five people riding in the buggy.  Two children passengers were killed at the scene of the crash, and an adult passenger died from injuries she sustained from the crash later in April.

NewsChannel 15 spoke to Gerber on the phone Tuesday morning.  He declined to talk on camera about the wreck, stating he needed more time before he felt comfortable discussing that morning.

Harvey said there was no timetable for how soon charges would be announced.
