FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Since the diocese released the reason Bishop Luers Head Football Coach Matt Lindsay was fired, people in the Luers community have been reacting to the news on social media.

On Sunday some of Lindsay's players began to share their thoughts on Twitter. Kendrick Mullen said "As much as Coach Lindsay and I disagreed this year, I can't help but feel weak right now."

Some of the Luers football players are calling on each other to help the team move forward.

Another player Jaylon Smith said "Coach taught me a lot of things, he was quiet but so wise. Let's rally together and how the world that the 'LU' still got it 100%"

After the Diocese released why Lindsay was fired even more of his former players began reacting on social media. A former Bishop Luers football player said "The only thing I can say right now is that I am shocked and saddened by the events as they unfold. Coach Lindsay was someone I looked up to and was amazed of his coaching talents. To me Coach Lindsay was Bishop Luers. Now I have to deal with the realities of life and move on. Bishop Luers will survive this and so will our community."

The IHSAA said it's not able to comment on the reason why Lindsay was fired.

"The IHSAA has not been in contact with the school whatsoever. Being a personnel issue these matters the IHSAA finds it inappropriate to comment under these particular situations," IHSAA Sports Information Director Jason Wille said.
