Firefighters battle blaze on Home Avenue

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Fort Wayne Fire Department is investigating a house fire from early Tuesday morning that sent one firefighter to the hospital.

Around 4:15, fire crews were called to the 800 block of Home Avenue near Indiana Avenue.

The first arriving crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the house. The fire eventually spread to the upstairs and attic of the home.

A FWFD report said the fire was under control in about an hour.

One firefighter was hurt battling the fire. A fire department report said he was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Officials said no one was home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
