FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) It took three hours for crews to get a fire under control on Fort Wayne's south side Monday.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department said flames were reported just after 3:30 p.m. at 4802 Old Mill Road. The fire was brought under control at approximately 6:45 p.m.
Firefighters had to cut into the roof and part of the exterior to get to the flames, according to FWFD. Crews discovered the flames on the first floor and said the fire spread to the attic.
Several crews had to respond and help get the fire under control because of the afternoon's oppressive heat.
FWFD said no one was home at the time and no one was hurt.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
