FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Fire crews were called to the scene of a house fire at the 3300 block of Lafayette Street around 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to the Fort Wayne Fire Department, the house was vacant or abandoned.
Crews arrived and found heavy smoking coming from the first floor. They pulled hand lines, extinguished the fire within 17 minutes and searched the home.
The street was closed for about and hour as crews worked on the house fire and searched the house.
The fire is under investigation.
