WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - The Whitley County Fire Investigation Team is investigating a house fire just south of Columbia City.

Just after midnight Thursday morning, Columbia Township firefighters received a call of a house fire in the 0800 block of County Road East 200 South, about two miles south of Columbia City.

Fire officials said when they fire arrived an attached garage was fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly attacked the fire and worked to keep it from spreading through the entire house.

Most of the fire damage was in the garage and parts of the living room. The house sustained some smoke and water damage.

Fire officials said two people were inside the house when the fire started. Both escaped without injury.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
