FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Smoke and flames damaged portions of a church in Fort Wayne early Friday morning.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported fire coming from the basement of the New Life Fellowship Church of God in the 900 block of Putnam Street around 1:30 a.m.
Heavy smoke was seen pouring from the basement of the structure. Fire crews had everything under control in about fifteen minutes.
No one was inside the church at the time of the fire.

A fire department report said the building sustained minor fire damage and moderate smoke and water damage.
A fire official at the scene told NewsChannel 15 the fire did not appear suspicious, but investigators were still combing through the damage. A cause of the fire is not currently known.
No injuries were reported.
