ROANOKE, Ind. (WANE) - Several fire departments were called to the Fort Wayne General Motors plant on Lafayette Center Road early Tuesday morning.

Around 12:30 a.m., firefighters were called to the northeast side of the building near the body shop after smoke filled a portion of the facility.

According to a GM spokesperson, a weld spark ignited filters in an ash house which caused smoke. The body shop employees were removed from work stations and waited inside in an unaffected area for a couple hours.

There were no injuries and everything was back to normal on Tuesday, according to the spokesperson.

Employees were evacuated from the area as fire crews made entry to the building, according to sources.

Fire crews remained on scene for several hours as a line of semi-trucks were kept outside the facility.
